SLIDE SHOW ON FIELD EPIDEMIOLOGY IN CAMBODIA - Ecomore Project

The impact of the new vector control strategy implemented in schools in Kampong Cham province on dengue-like syndromes and dengue confirmed cases is assessed through active and passive surveillance and also testing of immunity against dengue in school children along the dengue season.
This slideshow aims at presenting the field work of 90 Villages Health Volunteers (VHV) who visit households every week to detect dengue-like syndromes in children from 5 to 15 years old; they are supported by 42 nurses from the local Health Centers who collect samples of suspected cases. This work at the village level is monitored continuously by 4 provincial coordinators who also handle and arrange shipment of specimens to IPC where they are tested. This fieldwork is supervised by 5 epidemiologists of the Epi-Unit of IPC who furthermore conduct on site, three times (May, July and August 2018) the serological monitoring of dengue in 3,000 children in 24 schools using an innovative saliva test.
These pictures taken by the Epi-Unit staff during their missions show that behind charts and graphs that spot patterns and trends, there is a huge and complex field work.
