INTERNATIONAL LEPTOSPIROSIS CONFERENCE IN VANCOUVER - Ecomore Project
ILS 11th conference: 4 day meeting, 130 abstracts presented, 130 delegates from 36 countries

All “leptospirologists” met in Vancouver in Canada, at the University of British Columbia campus, to participate in the 11th scientific conference of the International Leptospirosis Society (ILS) from July 8th to 12th, 2019 at the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver, Canada.

The program covered all areas of investigation into Leptospira thanks to the input of leptospirosis researchers worldwide. Participants could heard an eclectic mix of papers on different aspects on leptospirosis in a wide range of species.

This event gave opportunity to NIHE, represented by A/Prof. Le Thi Phuong Mai, Head of Dept. of Public Health, to present the work done in the framework of ECOMORE 2 project (Human Leptospirosis circulation in Vietnam) and to develop personal interactions with colleagues from around the world. Dr Cyrille Goarant, Head of the URE Leptospirosis at Institut Pasteur in New Caledonia collaborates closely with the NHL in Myanmar and presented a poster on the study conducted in Yangon. Prof Yupin Suputtamongkol, from Mahidol University, external expert on Leptsopirosis for ECOMORE 2 project made as well a presentation (Evaluation of Combined Rapid Immunoglobulin M and Immunoglobulin G Lateral Flow Assays for the Diagnosis of Leptospirosis, Scrub Typhus, and Hantavirus Infection).

At the end of the Conference, Dr Le Mai from NIHE who attended the ILS meeting for the first time, confirmed that it was a wonderful experience, both professionally and socially
