May 2018
The team of the Entomological Unit is in the field for the first trapping post-vector control. The inventory of mosquito population is made in the 12 intervention schools and in the 12 non-intervention schools.
In March 2018 the 12 schools were treated to eliminate Aedes in and around (radius zone of 150m surrounding the school) by 3 techniques:
- Destruction of potential breeding sites by cleaning the yard, particularly by collecting and burning rubbish.
- Installation of the In2Care auto-dissemination system (video)
- Treatment of jars and containers of water by Bti.
The entomological survey has been carried out before vector control, 3 times in the rainy season (May, August and November 2017) and 1 time in the dry season (February 2018) in 24 schools, 12 in the intervention cluster and 12 in the non-intervention cluster.
The next surveys are planned in August, November 2018 and February 2019; later on data will be statistically analyzed to appraise the dynamic of Aedes in the two different clusters.
