The first Working Group for the Cambodian component of the ECOMORE 2 project has been held on 10th January 2018.
This Working Group is a critical part of the Knowledge Translation platform that is as a dynamic approach connecting research and policy processes; it focuses on building trust and dialogue among researchers, decision makers and other research users to prevent the gap between evidence and practice. It is important to find ways to develop the Knowledge Translation because if we do not plan it, KT will not happen, if it does not happen, new knowledge will sit on a shelf or in a journal, because we want to advance science and practice, because it is important to demonstrate the impact of the research.
This Working Group gave the opportunity to present the methodology of the field study for the epidemiology and entomological component of the project ECOMORE. The discussion resulted in clarifications and justifications on the selected topic of study, on the protocol and field implementation process.
The main recommendation, issued by the CNM, is the necessity to stay regularly informed on other projects which can implement any vector control in the study area to avoid bias.
Malaria Consortium plan a new project on Dengue mitigation through vector control in the schools with a different approach; in this sense MC has been invited to present this project to share the methodology and field implementation details. Both projects must be synergistic and not overlapping.
It is planned to organize such Working Groups 3 times a year to present regularly progress of the field work and later on, preliminary findings.
