The Partnership Agreement for the Myanmar component is now signed and implementation of the study can start immediately after the National Ethic Committee release an official approval.
The first step was to recruit the operational team, Dr. Khin Nyein Zan, Dr. Yin Yin Htwe and May July; three Medical Doctors with background of training and project management will join the team: Dr. Si Thu Htun, Dr. Khant Zaw Oo, and Dr. Zeyar Lwin
Mrs. Khin Thandar Swe, the data manager assistant is also recruited and will assist Mrs. May July.
Next month agenda will be very busy as it is planned to undertake several activities:
- Organization of the 1st National Stakeholders Meeting likely on 3rd August; this event will give opportunity to present ECOMORE2 project and the component in Myanmar to the medical staff of the 9 hospitals involved in the study, to key persons of the MoHS, to stakeholders working in the area of Public Health and One Health and to donors.
- Implementation of a Knowledge, Attitude and Practices study (KAP), likely the 2nd week of August, to assess the present approach for suspicion and management of cases of Leptospirosis and so to evaluate improvement of indicators at the end of the project
- Organization of the 1st Working Group, the 3rd week of August, to bring together Medical Doctors involved in the clinical study; the objective is to validate a scoring table for Leptospirosis suspicion that will result in lab testing. This first step of the project is critical to make sure not to miss any leptospirosis case but at the same time to fit with NHL lab capacity. This task will be led by Dr Yupin Suputtamongkol of Mahidol University.
Training of the National Coordinators by Dr P.Piola, Head of the Epi-Unit at IPC, last week of August, on the investigation technique in the framework of the Case-Control survey; this study will allow to identify risk factors for transmission of Leptospirosis in urban environment.
